“So I tell you to stop worrying about what you will eat, drink, or wear. Isn’t life more than food and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds. They don’t plant, harvest, or gather the harvest into barns. Yet, your heavenly Father feeds them. Aren’t you worth more than they? Can any of you add a single hour to your life by worrying?” Matthew 6:25-27
What is worrying you today?
I’m wondering if someone reading this needs to know that God is in control. That no matter your circumstances, God can handle it. Maybe you need to hear that your current struggles are not new news to the Creator.
Stop worrying.
In this passage, we are told to trust that God knows what we need… and will provide. Can you trust your life… your circumstances into His hands? Yes.
I’m going to a speakers/writers conference next month. It’s on the east coast and is very expensive. For the past few years, I have salivated at the prospect of attending. It’s the best of the best. I’ve never felt it was something I could pull-off, but this year I felt God telling me to trust Him. That I should not worry about the financial aspect of it.
You see, I am always looking for a the most affordable way to do things (thanks, mom), so even seriously considering attending was a departure for me. The bottom line is that it’s hard to spend THAT kind of money on… me.
With medical bills, braces, life, and more… we just don’t have a stash of cash sitting around. And our money tree never produced any fruit, so we are careful about how and when to spend.
I told God… “I’m taking this leap of faith and signing up…and I am trusting that you will provide the funds. God, the bottom line is that we can’t afford this.” I heard Him telling me to not worry. So, I didn’t… and haven’t.
And He has blessed my obedience.
A friend from college… someone who I’ve just recently reconnected with after 20 years or so… generously sent me enough money to cover half of my trip. I was so moved at how God used her to show me His promise of provision.
My dear friend felt God leading her to help and she stepped up in obedience. I hope on so many levels that she has seen His blessing because of it.
I love to watch God work.
Trust that God will meet your needs. Trust that God knows your circumstances. Know that God is in the details.
God provided for me in an unexpected and profound way. And you know what? He will for you, too.
Don’t worry! The Creator of the Heavens and the earth is watching… and He will never leave you nor forsake you.

Carrie–that brought tears to my eyes! God is so awesome!! It reminds me of what Priscilla Shirer said, as well as our pastor this past Sunday: the priests had to take the step of faith and actually walk into the Jordan River BEFORE God parted the waters. I think your story is a perfect example of that! I love your daily devotionals. I believe God has given you a wonderful gift and you are following his calling and using your life to serve him. Enjoy your trip!

Oh goodness! I needed to hear this! (where are my kleenix?!) Just yesterday, I prayed for confirmation that God is in control. I rarely ask that ~ but this was an exception. And yesterday, I received it in the form of deer. May sound odd, but I haven’t seen a deer on my property in about 2 years. I miss them terribly. I get emotional everytime I see them ~ they are so beautiful. Anyway, I was literally cleaning my windows, something catches my eye, I look up and see not one or two, but 5 of the most beautiful deer I have ever seen. They were huge & moving so slow I couldn’t have missed them. Might sound coincidental, but I prefer to believe in confirmations.
Thanks for this message, Carey! I’m so glad you are getting to go to your conference. Enjoy the east coast!

Don’t let Satan take that from you! God is sooo in the details and loves to delight us. Show off, if you will. You hold on to that story and share it as often as you can. BTW, deer are as common as birds around here. If you love deer… CO is the place for you! Thanks for responding!!! Love knowing you’re reading this!!!
