Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. (1 Peter 5:7)
It is such a relief to know that God cares for us and wants to take away all of our worries. In Luke 12:22 Jesus tells us not to worry.
This isn’t just advice or a suggestion; it is a command.
There are usually a plethora of issues and problems to worry about and it’s difficult to not pay them any attention. As we approach a brand new year, we will face many challenges. Ask the Lord to help you keep your focus on him and deal with one thing at a time. He cares for you and wants to help you.
Dear Heavenly Father, there are so many things on my mind right now. Please help me to focus on you and trust that you will help me deal with things as they come. Thank you for caring for me so much. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Family Activity:
Plan a “Take down the tree” party with your immediate family. This is fun to do on New Year’s Day. Play some festive music, have some refreshments handy and start un-decorating. Hang a special and unique ornament in a hidden spot on your tree or in your house somewhere. As your family is cleaning up, the first one to find the special ornament gets a prize! It might even be nice to keep a few small gifts hidden under the tree for children to find as they take down the tree. This makes a depressing job a lot more fun!
