“I love the LORD, for He heard my voice; He heard my cry for mercy. Because He turned his ear to me, I will call on Him as long as I live.” Psalm 116: 1-2.
While the exact author of this passage is unknown, we do know that he is grateful to God for what He had done. As a matter of fact, this man was so thankful that he declared a life-long dependence on his Creator.
He cried out to God… and God responded.
I wonder if you can remember the exact moment God interrupted your situation… because you asked Him to. Can you remember the feeling you had as you were able to see His merciful hand at work? When you witnessed His swift action at your request, did it cause you to be a follower for life?
God always responds.
As a matter of fact, out of all those you would reach out to when rough patches hit… He’s the easiest to reach.
- You don’t have to leave a message at the beep.
- He never has to call you back because it’s dinnertime.
- There is no “gate-keeper” you are trying to work your way past.
Nope. You just have to speak to Him… cry out to Him.
When was the last time you called out to God from the pit of despair? Is God your default button when life takes an unexpected turn? Do you share with Him the heaviness of a specific situation and beg Him for relief?
I hope so, because He responds to our every need.
How can I say this with such confidence? Because the Bible is our blueprint for living. This book is true… from Genesis to Revelation. In its pages, God reveals His character and His nature. Since God set a precedence of answering the cries of His children then… we can rest assured that He answers us now.
There are few things that we can trust these days. Agreed? But one thing we know and can trust is this…
… God always responds.
