My daughter loves arts and crafts.
This summer, we went to the YMCA’s craft shop… a favorite destination when we visit Estes. Rather then picking out something to paint, Sara decided to create a small serving tray with colored glass.
They had an entire table filled with plastic tubs holding different colors and different shapes of glass. As we looked closer, each piece was special and unusual.
Some were very small, others large. A few had some sharp points while the rest were more blunt. Several were beautiful and others looked worn down.
We chose carefully, but I was concerned that the colors she picked would clash and that some of the shapes wouldn’t fit together correctly.
I just didn’t see how all these pieces would come together to make something… valuable.
As Sara began to place each different glass, something amazing happened. Although each piece was unique and had its own story… when she fit them together, they made a masterpiece.
God does the same thing to you.
You see, when you give the broken pieces of your life to “The Maker“… with His divine hands, He arranges them for the perfect fit. He creates a masterpiece.
I wonder if anyone is struggling to believe that truth today? Hey, in this world we live in, how can we not? Take a moment, open your Bible and read Ephesians 2:10. Ok… read it again. Now say this out loud…
“I am God’s masterpiece (workmanship)… and God don’t make junk!“
Look… this struggle isn’t yours alone. We all get whacked with it!!! Value and worth are a big one for me. I needed to believe this because…
- I grew up being told I was nothing special… and I believed it.
- I suffered so many different types of abuse I could have been on the Jerry Springer show.
- I failed at so many relationships.
Something had to change. These two verses spoke volumes into my brokenness and opened my eyes to just how much my Heavenly Father loves me. Because of that, I know only He can piece me back together.
- For this is what the LORD Almighty says: “After he has honored me and has sent me against the nations that have plundered you—for whoever touches you touches the apple of his eye.“ Zechariah 2:8
- “And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.” Matthew 10:29-30
I. Needed. To. Know. That.
Friend! God adores every piece of you! The good, the bad and the ugly. He loves you so much He sent His ONLY Son to die for YOU! He created you as a masterpiece. You are the apple of His eye. He knows the number of hairs on your head.
Now… live life and know you are loved!
