I am officially overloaded with life.
There is too much laundry to fold.
Too much dust to wipe.
Too many obligations to keep.
Too many emails and text messages to return.
Too many people to pray for.
Too many…
I wonder if you can relate to this feeling. It seems life’s pace isn’t getting any slower. As a matter of fact, it seems to be increasing faster than ever before.
We have a lot of things on our plate… some are legitimate responsibilities and others self-inflicted busyness.
Regardless of the cause, most women I know feel overwhelmed with their daily calendar.
You know, God’s been speaking to me about this for the past year. And believe me, it’s not been an easy conversation.
I’ve seen Him graciously pull things from my life when I have held on too tightly. I have made some tough decisions and released Kingdom-focused things that were not where He wanted me to be in this season. I’ve also had to let go of a few time-wasters which I really enjoyed.
God and I have had to rework my priorities.
And you know what I discovered in the process? While I was overloaded with life… I wasn’t overloaded with God.
Ouch.
As a matter of fact, He was being crowded out because my schedule was so hectic. Unconsciously, I had allowed God to be pushed further and further down my list of priorities.
And without God at the top of my list, I began to crumble in my own strength. I made bad choices about my time. My focus was blurry.
Friends… are you tracking with me?
I was on serious overload. You, too?
But you know what I’ve discovered? When we allow God to permeate our schedules, our lives are much more manageable. Why?
- We take His thoughts into consideration when new opportunities come our way.
- Our priorities are continually tweaked so they stay in the right order.
- We have God’s peace, patience, direction and strength to do our days well.
Sisters, are you feeling overwhelmed with your day-to-day life?
Then ask yourself these questions:
Where is God on my to-do list?
Do I ask His opinion on my schedule?
Am I asking Him what He wants my day to look like?
Sisters, be overloaded with God. Not the world.
Father, I’m tired. I’ve created a chaotic world where I’m barely hanging on. I need You… more of You. Help me prioritize my calendar so it best glorifies You and not things of this world. Forgive me for pushing You out and allowing other stuff to work its way in. You are my priority! Help me live that truth! Amen.

Amen sista!! And to not let guilt come in when we do make God a priority can be just as tough. We will always have a to do list – always! How we prioritize speaks volumes on who or what we serve. Have a fantastic encounter with the Lord this weekend!

You’re so right, Jeanelle! Our priorities do speak volumes whether we realize it or not. We have to remember that our actions have as much as (if not more) meaning than our words. Thanks for your comment today! Have a great weekend in Estes!

Carey you are so right on target with this post. I struggle with trying to fit it all in too. When my focus is on spending time with God I find I don’t stress as much about my day to day to do list. I know I have done the most important thing by spending time with my Heavenly Father and He will direct my steps for the rest of the day.

Mary… I think it is so universal! I hope we can overload with God instead of overload with the world!
