My life is too big right now.
What I mean by that statement is that there are too many things coming at me from different directions… and at times I feel overwhelmed and discouraged. When those feelings invade, I struggle to figure out the game plan. I can’t see just how it will all work out.
Funny thing is… it’s the perfect place for me to be.
Why? Because this is when God really shines. This is the place where God shows me…
- His provision
- His healing
- His will
- His wisdom
- His love
If you are anything like me, you work so hard to hold your life together and make ends meet. You try to chart the flow of events in an effort to set you and your situation up for success. You get into the minute details in hopes that you can control the situation.
And while it may work for a while… eventually you wear yourself out both physically and emotionally.
It’s no wonder. You see, we weren’t designed to carry our burdens alone.
- They cause us grief.
- They weigh us down.
- They cause unrest.
But God.
I love those two words! That is hands-down my favorite two-word phrase next to… “You’re right!” 😉
Anyhoo…
When we place those burdens and worries on our shoulders, it keeps us in bondage to them. Rather than taking Jesus up on His offer to carry them for us, we decide the best option is to carry them… ourselves.
And because we hang on to and try to fix and control these circumstances ourselves, we live in constant turbulence and pandemonium.
We end up completely stressed out.
I’d like to suggest that it might be that we are going about it the wrong way. We are looking to the wrong person for help.
When life gets too big, what we really need… only He can provide.
“The LORD will give strength to His people; the LORD will bless His people with peace.” (Psalm 29:11)
When we find that life is larger than we can handle, this verse tells us to turn to the Lord. Because when we do, He gives us strength and peace.
Do you need strength and peace today?
- When your medical bills are larger than your budget… God will give you strength and peace.
- When you child’s diagnosis is heartbreaking… God will give you strength and peace.
- When the logistics of your schedule are overwhelming… God will give you strength and peace.
- When your job commitments must increase… God will give you strength and peace.
- When you feel the Enemy attacking at every angle… God will give you strength and peace.
Sisters, don’t waste your time looking to anyone but God. He – alone – gives us what we need to calm our anxious hearts.
And He’s just waiting for us to ask.

I love that you pointed out we are in bondage to what we focus on – I will be asking for Godly focus right now – I need to be in bondage to the One who loves me, made me, can fix my anything…
Rely on the Lord! Be strong and confident! Rely on the Lord! Psalm 27:4
Standing with you in a much too big world! love-ab

Amanda, focus is such an intentional act…yes? It requires us to be fully present in what we are feeling and in our thought life. We have to remain focused so we can rely on God. Thanks for adding that scripture!

It is awesome to see what God is doing in and through you. Thank you for reminding me that my plans will never be perfect enough, analyzed enough, or SAFE enough. It’s not about getting all our ducks in a row – but seeking the Lord in everything. It seems hard to do with “earthly” problems like schedules, chores, fiances, etc….. We want to weigh it all out so it’s safe. Amazing how God so often has to get us to the “I have no answers” state so He can work!!! That is how we learn to have peace through the storms. Love it!!!

Jeanelle… you’re right. It’s not about getting our ducks in a row, but oh how we try to do it so often. Our worlds just feel better we when have control. But to be honest, that feeling backs up a lie from the enemy that we don’t need God. Luckily, we know better. 🙂

There are so many circumstances around me right now that feel heavy. I need to tuck away with Jesus. He will give me the strength and peace that I am looking for. Thank you Carey.

Ginger, it is heavy right now… but we know God is in all the details. And when we seek Him, we find Him. Thanks, friend.
