I have a question… and I hope someone has the answer.
You’ve heard the term “on the same team” used before to describe a group of people with something in common. I would say I’m on many teams, if you will. Work, friends, speakers/writers, Jesus freaks, etc. And I consider me – and other Christ-followers – to be on the same Team.
But are there teams within the Team?
Hypothetically, if you and a friend were Christ-followers and you went to one church and your friend went to another church… would you still be on the same “Team?” Or would you be on different teams since you each worship at different places… even if you’re worshiping the same God.
Maybe you’d be in the same “league”… sticking with the sports theme here. And within that league there are different teams. Could those teams, then, be different churches? Even though they have their own players and colors and logos and DNA, they still serve the one true God (or league commissioner).
I’m really not all that into sports… just seems the easiest way to get my point across. 😛
And since… as in any league… these different teams play “against” each other, then would it be fair to say that one church is against another church… even though they BOTH have the same goal and the same God?
I’m confused by it all. Wondering why/if each church is seen as “competition” rather than a fellow teammate working together to win the game of saving souls.
One thing is for sure…. Satan LOVES a divided church.

Because of recent troubles at our local church, we’ve been learning a lot about “unity” as opposed to “uniformity.” If only we could all be on the same team, even when we are i different services, churches, denominations…
But Jesus knew this would be an issue for us, didn’t He? He did pray for us that we would have unity. (John 17)
