After Jesus was born in Bethlehem in Judea, during the time of King Herod, Magi from the east came to Jerusalem and asked, “Where is the one who has been born king of the Jews? We saw his star in the east and have come to worship him.” (Matthew 2: 1-2)
The wise men traveled many miles to worship Jesus. They went out of their way to find him and bring gifts for him.
- Do you ever go out of your way to worship the Lord?
- Do you worship even when it isn’t convenient for you?
God is worthy of our worship whether we feel like worshiping or not. If you’ve had a rough week or maybe you aren’t feeling very well or you are really stressed about something…God is still worthy or our worship.
When we worship God even when we don’t feel like it, He allows us to see Him as He is… and our problems look so much smaller in his presence.
Dear God, help me to worship you even if I don’t feel like it. You are worthy of all my worship, all the time! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
Family Activity:
Spend some individual time with each family member today. Plan ahead who you will talk to and when. Have breakfast with your daughter by the Christmas tree. Have lunch with your son on a quilt in the living room. Have dessert with your spouse in the kitchen, etc. Ask them to tell you what they loved about Christmas this year. What was their favorite gift? Who did they have the best conversation with over the holidays? What was it about? What was their favorite dessert? What was something new that they’ve never done/tried before? What have they learned from these daily devotions?
