It was so breathtaking… I had to pull over.
On my way home from the grocery store the other day, I was feeling the heaviness of some faith-bending situations that several of my friends were facing. My mind wandered to all the natural disasters that had made the headlines as of late.
I was quickly thinking my way into a funk.
But God.
As I turned onto a road that boasted a gorgeous view of the mountains in Northern Colorado, the sight before me took my breath away.
I noticed that the cloud cover shaded the foothills causing them to take on a bluish tint. Standing tall and majestic behind them were three snow-capped peaks brilliantly lit as the clouds had parted temporarily allowing the sun to touch them.
The contrast was absolutely magnificent.
Sitting at the base of these mountains were fields of pink, burgundy and white flowering Crab Apple trees adding to the beautiful canvas before me. And it was all punctuated by the bright green grass, thanks to the recent spring rains.
This spectacular scene brought tears to my eyes. Why? God was trying to get my attention.
He was reminding me of His powerful ability to shine in cloudy situations. God was showing off his majesty and splendor. He was offering me the opportunity to take my eyes off the circumstances pulling me down and instead put them on Him.
He showed me the power of “Even When” kind of faith.
- Even when my friends are struggling financially, God will provide everything they need!
- Even when we await a diagnosis, God has taken care of the next step!
- Even when we watch a marriage disintegrate, God is preparing rest in Him for those weary souls!
- Even when a reputation is destroyed, God has plans for renewal!
- Even when we face the devastation of a natural disaster, God has called His people to restoration!
Sisters, we can have hope. Because when “even when” happens… He is already working it out.
Oh someone needed to hear that today!
Look, it’s so easy to allow situations to overwhelm us. We turn to friends, food, shopping, alcohol and more to try to help us feel better. And sometimes they do for a while. But eventually we become vulnerable, fearful and scared. Our resolve begin to dwindle.
Especially when we can’t see God in our circumstances.
That’s when we need to know… that we know… that we know, that God is there:
- Protecting us
- Defending us
- Refining us
- Renewing us
- Saving us
And because we can trust that He is in the details of our “even when,” our circumstances don’t have to defeat us.
Psalm 62:6 says, “He alone is my rock and my salvation; he is my fortress, I will not be shaken.”
Simply put – He is all we need.
And that’s good, because at the end of the day… He’s all we’ve got.

He is enough! Keep reminding me of this sister. Every where I turn, we all seem to be facing huge trials. It is time to rise up, lock arms and claim the power and authority that is within us and for us. The victory is ours! Jesus paid for our victory, we need to speak down,”on earth as it is in Heaven!!” Thank you for your words today, much needed. Even when…..He is ALL we need.

“““““““““““““““““““““““
I think these words clarified some things for me – I tend to see God in His creation and feel His presence when I do – but asked just yesterday “What are you saying when I see these birds covering me?” – It’s almost as if His presence IS the very thing that comforts or heals or protects or…. I am so hungry for a ‘word’ from God that I might be missing the ONE He has given – He is God Alone – my creator – showing off his majesty so I’d give Him the glory….
Thanks friend – perfectly timed word! Praising God today! Even When….

Great point, Amanda. I do think we can sometimes miss His answer because we are looking too hard for it. I love it when God catches me off guard, tenders my heart and let’s me know He’s there in one quick moment. When He does… it usually knocks me to my knees.
