Can we agree that it is hard being a woman in the world today?
We all have reasons for being tangled up in the knots of insecurity.
… Maybe you, like me, have suffered sexual abuse that has you covered in shame.
… Maybe you’ve grown up being told you’ll never measure up.
… Maybe you’ve succumb to the pressure to be thinner, richer, smarter, younger, sexier, or holier and it’s left you feeling even worse about yourself.
… Maybe your internal dialogue berates your self-esteem every day with reminders you’ll never be what they need.
Regardless, insecurity is a common thread that weaves us together.
But friend, God has a different message.
He loves you right now—right here in your tangled mess—stumbles, fumbles and all. And there is nothing you can do to make God love you more or less.
Your tangles, those places of deep insecurity that are fueled by shame, don’t intimate Him.
They don’t scare Him off.
Romans 8:38-39 MSG confirms it… “I’m absolutely convinced that nothing—nothing living or dead, angelic or demonic, today or tomorrow, high or low, thinkable or unthinkable—absolutely nothing can get between us and God’s love because of the way that Jesus our Master has embraced us.”
I’ve watched – sometimes in complete awe – as God has untangled knots in my life I thought would go to the grave with me. And it all started when I asked…
God, will you heal my bruised heart?
Will you silence those I’m-not-good-enough messages?
Will you help me feel good about who You created me to be?
And He did… He is… He will.
God will do the same for you. All you have to do is ask.
So… ask.
