What if I try my best … and find out my best isn’t good enough?
What if I work for something I desperately want… and don’t get it?
What if I dig deep… but don’t have what it takes?
What if I let myself hope…
What if I entertain that desire…
What if I let myself care…
What if I share my needs…
All of these questions feel risky, don’t they?
The “What ifs” are code for “I’m afraid” … because all of them have the potential of tangling our already black and blue hearts.
And so often, our responses to these questions are:
… I shouldn’t
… I better not
… I won’t
… I can’t
… There’s no way on God’s green earth
Truth is, there’s a powerful tension between hope and hurt, and sometimes it’s hard to navigate.
When we feel good about ourselves… when we’re confident in our abilities… when we know our worth… when we refuse to let the world tells us we’re not good enough… chances are we’re more willing to take the risk and move past the “What ifs”.
Fear doesn’t knot us up.
But when we’re tangled in the fear of being exposed, embarrassed, rejected or abandoned… when we’re worried people might perceive us as too much or too little… when we lack confidence to share the depths of our hearts… when we don’t feel good about who we are… the “What ifs” win.
And we find ourselves entangled in fear, unable to free ourselves.
I’m tired of living like that. Aren’t you?
Julie from Women Who Believe is unpacking this tangle in more depth today. Let’s finish up the week recognizing our fears, remembering God is the Divine Untangler, and realizing He is the only hope we have to be free.
Because freedom is possible. Yes, even for you.

And we’ll be discussing fear again in the Untangled Women Facebook community. The conversation has been amazing. Click here for access to the private group.
I’ve also created an Untangled playlist on Spotify full of music to encourage your heart. You can find it here.
Oh and one more thing… have you taken the What’s Your Tangle online quiz yet? It’s quick and anonymous, and I’ll even email video and written resources to help you take the next step towards freedom. Click here.
I sure like you. Thanks for being a part of what we’re doing.
