You can be sure of this: The LORD set apart the godly for himself. The LORD will answer when I call to him. (Psalm 4:3)
What are you calling to God for this year?
- Are you hoping for reconciliation in your marriage?
- Are you asking for God to get the attention of that wayward child who is destroying his/her future?
- Do you need help in setting better boundaries in your relationships?
- Is your health becoming a life-threatening issue?
- Do you need courage to step out and try something new?
- Are you hoping for a viable pregnancy this time?
- Are the bills piling up and you’re hoping for a miracle?
Friends… He hears that plea. He HEARS you.
David wrote this Psalm in confidence that God would hear him. He never doubted it. Not only did David know God listened when he called to Him, he also knew that God would answer Him.
We can have that same confidence.
I wonder why, however, we struggle to believe that. We have no trouble asking God to intervene in a situation or direct us towards the truth, but we sometimes struggle with knowing He will answer us.
Do you think we feel that way because we’ve repeatedly fallen short of what He wants for our lives? We think we’ve let Him down one too many times and He has turned away in frustration?
That’s a human reaction, not a Godly one.
When we chose to follow Christ and allowed Him into our lives, we became “set apart” from those who refused to embrace Him. And the Bible tells us that because of that, He will never leave us nor forsake us. We are His and He loves us… all of us… the good, the bad and the ugly.
Know what that means? He. Will. Answer. Us. When we call to Him, He hears us and He answers us.
In complete honesty, I needed to hear that today because I’m desperately seeking an answer from Him about the direction of my ministry. I want confirmation in certain areas. While my writing has ramped up, it seems to be a slow season for speaking, and I feel like that player on the sidelines that keeps jumping up and down yelling, “Put me in coach. I’m ready!”
I just need some clarification because I want to stay in His will.
This verse reminded me that He will answer. So now… I continue seeking Him and His will.
Brothers and sisters, keeping asking because God answers. Sometimes the answer is “slow” or “no”… but He will answer us.
Expect nothing less.
