When God thought you up… He did so with great intention.
He decided the family you’d be born into and the one that would raise you. He thought up the physical features that would define you – from your hair color to your bone structure to the color of your skin. He decided when to bring you into the world because He knew you had what it needed for that season of humanity.
God picked specific character and personality traits to weave through your DNA, knowing the impact you’d have on others.
He filled you full of amazing talents and gifts to help you walk out the plans He designed for your life.
God saw the problems that would come your way — the challenges you’d have to face — the struggles that would prove life-long — and made provision for every one of them.
You weren’t a cosmic collision. God wasn’t in a bad mood when He thought you up. He didn’t lose creativity when He got to you.
And you know what? God. Delights. In. You.
Many of you feel delight-less. You’re sure others consider you too much… or too little. You feel like your wants and needs don’t matter a hill of beans.
And you feel defective.
I’m sorry, friend — sorry that you’ve bought into that great lie that says you don’t matter… and you aren’t good enough.
I get it. I believed those for most of my life.
And it tangled me into knots. Geeze, those beliefs are toxic. And they bleed into every area of life.
It’s so easy to get tangled in worthlessness. But you don’t have to stay trapped there.
Sweet one, God never wanted you to become knotted up in the I’m-not-good-enough lies. And He is ready to untangle you, if you will let Him.
“Lord, remind me that I’m not a defect but rather a creation You delight in — and even more, that I am worthy of that delight! Help me remember that You didn’t make me like anyone else. I am unique. And that’s by intentional design. Help me love myself, and keep me from comparing myself to another because that never ends up in my favor. Will You give me the eyes to see me as You see me? I want to find contentment with who I am. Untangle me, God. I can’t do this without You. In the name of Jesus. Amen.”

I have got almost through Chapter one. and It helped me write this following post.https://communitymoms.wordpress.com/2015/05/21/you-say-im-good-enough-and-i-say-i-need-you-to-love-me/ I love the post you have published here. I look forward to reading through the rest of your book. My community is doing a series on self esteem and food related issues/eating disorders. Love asking God how He sees me! What a powerful way to hear from God rather than me trying to be something I want or think I should be! Thanks for this beautiful prayer!
